Sustainability can be defined as:

We strive to make our business as sustainable as possible in the following ways…

We monitor our waste to keep our environmental impact at a minimum. This includes the use of light sensors, making sure all appliances and lights are switched off at night, only using hot water when necessary, minimising food wastage and recycling.

Instore we provide ways for customers to help us recycle cans, plastic bottles, tins and cardboard. We also use large amounts of recycled materials to build and decorate our shop.

We hold regular staff workshops on sustainability in the workplace, the importance of saving energy and reducing wastage, as well as other environmental issues that directly relate to us as a company.

By stocking locally sourced products from independent businesses and traders, we are minimising our ‘food miles’ dramatically. We use suppliers that try to acquire products that are sustainably sourced and from animals that are ethically treated, wherever possible.

Over the next year, we aim to increase the amount of organic produce that we stock, starting with our Mexican brownies produced by The Artisan Food Trader, who use organic products certified by the Soil Association.

We only stock fair trade coffee, and all our packaging and printed material are produced by using recycled materials.

We always endeavour to aid the local economy by using local, independent business traders in & around Surrey, including;

Bramleys Apples in Guildford
Cheesman Brothers in Guidlford
The Artisan Food Trader in Petworth
Jimmy Ginger in Chrobham
Ringden Farm in Ethingham

We engage with the local community by participating in local festivals including Staycation and Godalming Food Festival. We also work with local schools to provide one-off lessons helping to teach children about Mexican culture and cuisine.
